Why We're Hiring Female Support Workers in Western Sydney

Serving: St Marys · Greater Western Sydney · Western Sydney

At Adom Grace Care, we're an unregistered NDIS provider, and right now we're recruiting female support workers across Western Sydney, from St Marys through the wider Greater Western Sydney corridor. It's a deliberate choice, made for a simple reason: many of the people we support feel safest, most comfortable and most themselves with a woman by their side. If you're a caring woman thinking about this work, this one's for you.

Why same-gender care matters so much

Support work is intimate work. It often involves the most private parts of someone's day, showering, dressing, toileting and personal hygiene. For a great many participants, having a worker of the same gender isn't a preference. It's what makes that support possible at all.

This is especially true for:

  • Women who only feel comfortable with personal care from another woman, often for cultural, religious or deeply personal reasons.
  • Participants whose families request a female worker for their daughter, wife or mother.
  • People who've had difficult past experiences and feel safer with a woman.

In a community as wonderfully diverse as Western Sydney, same-gender care isn't a nice-to-have. It's central to delivering personal care support with the dignity every person deserves. By recruiting more women, we can say yes to more families who've been waiting for exactly the right match.

The work you'd be doing

No two days look quite the same, and that's part of the joy. Depending on the participants you support, your week might include:

  • Helping someone get ready in the morning with warmth and respect.
  • Daily living and personal care at home, from showering to meal prep.
  • Getting out into the community, a coffee, a class, an appointment, a social group.
  • Building skills and confidence, the heart of capacity building and independence.
  • Simply being good company, because companionship matters as much as any task.

It's hands-on, people-first work, guided by our values of advocacy, gentleness and compassion.

Flexibility that fits real life

Many of the women on our team are also mums, students or carers in their own families. Support work is one of the few careers that genuinely bends to fit a busy life. You can:

  • Build shifts around school hours and family commitments.
  • Choose a few shifts a week or something closer to full-time.
  • Work close to home in suburbs you can reach easily.
  • Earn while you study toward a qualification.

You tell us the days, times and suburbs that suit you, and we do our best to match shifts nearby. If that sounds like what you need, our guide to flexible support work goes into more detail.

What you'll need to get started

You don't need a long résumé, just the right heart and a willingness to learn. Here's the short version:

  • A Certificate III in Individual Support (or Disability) is highly valued and opens more doors. It can be in progress, and we welcome people studying while they build experience.
  • A National Police Check. As Adom Grace Care is not yet a registered NDIS provider, this is the key background check we rely on, rather than the NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • A Working With Children Check if you'll support anyone under 18.
  • A current First Aid and CPR certificate.
  • A driver licence and a reliable, insured car, which makes a real difference across a spread-out area like Western Sydney.

Don't have everything yet? That's genuinely okay. We'll point you toward where to get your checks, recommend training, and help you understand exactly what's needed for the shifts you want. Our full rundown of support worker qualifications and checks walks through each one.

Why women choose this work

The women on our team tell us the same thing again and again: this is work that *means something*. You finish a shift knowing you made someone's day a little easier, a little safer, a little brighter. You build real relationships. You're trusted with the things that matter most.

It's also a career you can grow. Many start with a handful of shifts, then take on more as their confidence and qualifications build, all while keeping the balance that suits their life. There aren't many jobs that offer genuine flexibility *and* genuine purpose. This is one of them.

A warm, supportive team behind you

You won't be thrown in the deep end. We believe in looking after the people who look after others, with guidance, a friendly point of contact and a team that genuinely cares. When you do well, the people you support do well, and that's exactly how we like it.
